Basket monsters are bizarre creatures from Zulu folklore.
Appearance[]
These creatures appear as normal baskets, but they have the ability to sprout legs.
Behaviour[]
If someone unwittingly places something in a basket monster, it will grow legs and scuttle away like a crab. The most common retelling of this myth is that of a mother placing her child in one, only to find that the basket has vanished after she turns her back.[1]
